WMOR-TV personalities and fan favorites Jerry Springer, “Divorce Court” host Judge Lynn Toler and Steve Wilkos will return to Ybor City on Saturday, Feb. 10 as special guests in the Krewe of Sant’ Yago Knight Parade presented by MOR-TV.
This marks the first time that all three personalities will be together for the parade. Fans will have a chance to meet them before the parade during a meet and greet session in Centro Ybor.
“Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos and Judge Lynn Toler love taking part in the Knight Parade, and Krewe members are big fans of all three celebrities, both on and off the air,” said Ray Favata, Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago member and parade chairman. “They’ve shown a strong commitment to serving their respective communities, much like our members.”
Jerry Springer has hosted “The Jerry Springer Show,” a syndicated talk show, since 1991. The cultural and civic icon has enjoyed an illustrious and diverse career. Before starting his talk show, Springer was the mayor of Cincinnati, a political pundit, a lawyer and award-winning newscaster. Since the start of his talk show, he has appeared in movies and Broadway shows, hosted a progressive talk-radio show, landed in the top five during the 2006 season of “Dancing with the Stars,” and even recorded two country music albums.
Because of his lasting popularity, Springer has been a favorite guest speaker on college campuses throughout the United States and is consistently asked to emcee international events and host other TV programs. Currently, Springer hosts a live revue of “America’s Got Talent” in Las Vegas and the hit Game Show Network program, “Baggage.” “The Jerry Springer Show” airs at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays on WMOR-TV.
Judge Lynn Toler has hosted “Divorce Court,” the longest running television court program, since 2006. She was elected Judge of the Cleveland Heights Municipal Court in 1993, and served while heading the Cleveland Heights Coordinated Community Response to Violence Against Women, a nationwide initiative to coordinate community resources to help women who are victims of violence.
Judge Lynn Toler has also authored three books, “My Mother’s Rules: A Practical Guide to Becoming an Emotional Genius,” “Put It In Writing,” and “Making Marriage Work: New Rules for an Old Institution.” “Divorce Court” airs 7-8 a.m. weekdays on MOR-TV.
Steve Wilkos began hosting “The Steve Wilkos Show” in 2007 and has earned four Prism Award nominations for raising awareness about substance abuse and other social issues. Before a career in entertainment, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years, and then returned to his hometown to serve in the Chicago Police Department for 12 years.
He began moonlighting as a security guard on “The Jerry Springer Show” before he retired from the police department and had guest hosted more than 50 episodes before he began hosting his own show. “The Steve Wilkos Show” airs at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays on MOR-TV.
The 2018 Knight Parade begins at 7 p.m. as illuminated floats, led by grand marshal USF System President Judy Genshaft, roll down Seventh Avenue in historic Ybor City. The floats are accompanied by dozens of marching bands, local dignitaries and thousands of participants as they throw scores of beads to an estimated 100,000 spectators.
Proceeds from the Knight Parade benefit the Krewe’s Education Foundation, which has provided more than $2 million in higher education scholarships since it was established in 1994.
