Here’s the Best Movie From Every Year Since 2000, According to Critics

While a slew of movies of course make their way to audiences year in and year out, often times there is one particular picture that has a more significant, long-lasting impact and is ultimately better received. Back in 2000, review aggregator Metacritic began formulating annual lists of each year’s best films, giving them ratings based on their composite critical reception.

Accordingly, Business Insider has now taken Metacritic’s data to showcase the best movie from each year, 2000 through 2017 (so far). You’ll note such standout hits as Pan’s LabyrinthThe Hurt LockerThe Social NetworkZero Dark Thirty12 Years a Slave, and Moonlight, among many others.
