Since 1992, Cigar Aficionado has been the go-to guide for all things tobacco and, just this week, the magazine released its picks for the top 25 cigars of 2017.
“Each and every cigar that made it to the top 25 is truly outstanding — with an impressive level of artistry, build quality and craftsmanship — and their producers should be proud,” says Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Cigar Aficionado. “We are thrilled to present these cigars, which we are sure our readers will thoroughly enjoy.”
To reach their top 25 list, Cigar Aficionado‘s tasting panel took the highest rated cigars from the publication throughout the year and subjected them to another round of blind taste testing. From there, they continued to whittle down the list of only the best cigars, round after blind round, until they arrived at the top 25 cigars of 2017 that stand before you today.

Now, on to the cigars!
The Winner: Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Eye of the Shark
According to Cigar Aficionado, “This year’s winning cigar is unique in every way — with an interesting blend, innovative shape and intriguing story — all while maintaining classic standards of excellence. The blend is based on the original Don Carlos cigar (which was released in 1976), but altered a bit for this particular release. Once the four corners of the box-pressed foot are fully lit, the Shark begins to express itself immediately, and you won’t want this cigar to end.”
A description of cigars 11-25 will be unveiled on December 22. The full Top 25 list will also be published in the January/February print issue of Cigar Aficionado, available on newsstands January 9, 2018.
