You Can Make Incredible Meals on a Food Stamps Budget With This Cookbook

Eating on the cheap and eating well are not usually two things that can coexist. Either you choose to down packets of ramen noodles or you cook costly meals that please your taste buds. With Good and Cheap: Eat Well on $4/Day you can have the best of both worlds.

Leanne Brown’s book is designed for those who really need to pore over the decisions they make with every dollar, those living on U.S. food stamps, and those just looking to be thrifty. The kicker is, the recipes are legit and have been championed by the likes of Michael Pollan and Time magazine. We’re talking things like Spicy Pulled Pork, Filipino Chicken Adobo, and Shrimp and Grits. The trick is in the process, as all the recipes are based around affordable ingredients you can buy in bulk, so you’re not using a dash of saffron every six months or running out for some exotic fruit that’s only available at a boutique grocery store.

This book can seriously help your 2018 resolution to save more money. We’ve been using it to do just that and have come away beyond impressed with the quality of the meals and how little we need to shop. Chicken thighs with broccoli and peanut sauce is a damn winner in our book, FYI. We encourage you to try it out if you’re looking to save some cash this year but don’t want to live like it’s freshman year of college all over again.
