The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association and Old Seminole Heights Preservation Consortium present 10 showcase homes to the public from 11:30am to 5pm on Sunday, April 2, 2017. The tour provides an insider view of the magnificent restoration work that encapsulates the history and the architectural character of the community. The Florida Design Studio, located in a beautifully restored bungalow, will be our featured local business stop.
Come experience the charm of the historic bungalows that epitomize the 1920’s architectural style and see a fantastic example of how a “new build” can fit perfectly into a historic neighborhood. The tour is self-guided and begins at the beautifully restored Seminole Heights Garden Center at 5800 North Central Avenue, a neighborhood park. We have literally 100’s of volunteers on hand to provide details, maps and tips to help you make the most of your Sunday afternoon. This spectacular tour showcases homes in the historic district of Old Seminole Heights to include the area of historic Hampton Terrace.
The tour can be a casual drive to each home or you can enjoy a bike ride on the oak lined streets using a map sponsored by The Seminole Heights Bicycle club. The Tampa TPD Bike Patrol will be stationed in the community to help cyclists maneuver through the busy streets. Another option is to take advantage of the tour bus. As the popularity of Old Seminole Heights has surged over the past several years, we have been named the “it” spot in Tampa and have experienced a rapid growth in resident beer and wine enthusiasts and “foodies.” Seminole Heights is home to some of the top restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.
One of Tampa’s first suburbs established in the early 1900s, Old Seminole Heights is a tree-shaded community nestled within two miles of downtown Tampa and Ybor City, and just a short drive to South Tampa, Carrollwood and Temple Terrace. Some of the homes are listed in the National Historic Register and the local Historic District ensures their preservation for generations to come. The neighborhood attracts residents of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ticket Information – Ticket prices are $15.00 in advance; $20 day of the Tour. A portion of this year’s proceeds will be donated to the Wayne C Papy Center to assist in the creation of a safe, fun playground for the community of Seminole Heights. They will be installing a new rock wall, hex pod steps, a spiral slide, as well as a tube slide. We will also be supporting the Friends of the Seminole Heights Library, a not-for-profit organization that supports the activities of our local library. These funds will be used to sponsor a children’s event this summer. Tickets can be purchased on www.oldseminoleheights.org. You can also purchase tickets (cash or checks) at the following locations:
